Stradley Law: Supporting Our Community.
We both got into the practice of law because we like helping people. We enjoy doing good for our clients and like participating in making our community a better place.
The following are some of the organizations and charities that we support with our time and/or money:
Various Schools: We've been asked to speak at schools on the subject of how good kids can sometimes get in criminal law trouble. Sadly, we've found that experience can be the harshest of teachers, but we like to speak at schools with the hope that it makes a difference. You can't wrap your kids in bubble wrap, but over time you can continue to give them information to help them make better decisions at a time in their lives where the impulse control part of their brains is still developing. It doesn't always stick, but all you can do is try your best.
Junior Achievement: Being a positive role model in teaching elementary and middle school students the principles of the free market and economics, business ethics, entrepreneurship and working in collaborative, customer-focused way.
The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society: This organization was created to help those with blood cancers live better and longer lives through research, information sharing and financial assistance.
Be The Match: The National Marrow Donor Registry attempts to find bone marrow/ stem cell matches to patients in need. Being a member of the donor registry increases the odds that a patient can find a life-saving stem cell match. Most donations are fairly painless with a procedure not that different than donating platelets.
Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center: There is a great demand for blood products from those receiving surgery and from cancer patients. Donating blood is a way that regular people save a life.
Team Rubicon: 100% of donations to this site go to war veterans who use their special skills to rapidly deploy emergency response to help people in need during both global and national disasters. By being able to help others, the veterans can also help themselves by using their skills.
Prison Yoga Project: The goal of Prison Yoga Project advises prisons, rehabilitation facilities, and community programs on how to incorporate Hatha Yoga and Mindfulness Meditation as a method of healing to both youth and adult at-risk populations.
Houston Mod: Houston Mod is a non-profit organization promoting education and appreciation of modern design and architecture in Houston and Texas. We live in a mid-century house, and very much appreciate the efforts of Houston Mod to provide resources to learn more about modern design. We've found that the quality of mid-century things often exceeds the standards for things built today.
Bum Phillips Charities and the opera based on the life of Bum Phillips: The Bum Phillips charities are a variety of charitable endeavors supported by the legendary Oiler coach, Bum Phillips. All the proceeds of his signed autobiography go to his charity. The opera based on his book is in the developmental stage and is intended to be shown in both New York City and in Houston.
Both our time and our money are limited but we like to help when we can. If you are a principal or teacher who would like for us to speak at your school, please use our contact form or call Stradley Law at 713-224-5455.
